Staples invented the office superstore
concept when it opened its first store in Brighton, MA on May
1, 1986. Today, Staples is the world's largest office supply
chain. It sells office supplies, computers, furniture and services.
Staples operates three business segments:
North American Retail, North American Delivery and European Operations.
With 2007 sales of $18.16 billion and net
income of $973 million, Staples serves consumers and businesses
ranging from home-based businesses to Fortune 500 companies in
22 countries throughout North and South America, Europe and Asia.
Headquartered outside of Boston, Staples operates 2,008 stores
in 47 states and 21 countries worldwide. It also serves customers
through mail order catalog, e-commerce and contract businesses.
Each store stocks about 7,000-8,000 products
and 2,400 are Staples brands. More than 30,000 products are offered

Last July, Staples began selling a line
